2018 has been another amazing year for Zambia Music with many artistes making waves, dominating the charts, breaking headlines and so much more wins. Below is our list of Top 10 musicians who have had a major impact during the year in no particular order.
The HipHop heavyweight has undoubtedly had a very successful 2018 with several smash hits on the charts and street bangers which include “For A Longtime” and “Lituation“. He also broke the Youtube views record for Zambian Music videos with more than 20K Views within 24hrs on his video for Lituation which features “Patoranking” and “Daev”. The rapper also headlined the first ever “ALL OUT FOR HIPHOP” concert alongside Chef 187 at “Woodlands Stadium“.
From dropping his collaborative album called “One Day” last year alongside “T-Bowy“, the “Dancehall Daddy” dropped his fourth studio album called “Grateful” this year. T-Sean also had several smash hits on the airwaves which comprises “Speedometer Burn UP” and “Umpatefye” among others.
3. Bobby East
The XYZ Entertainments CEO definitely had a good and successful 2018 as he became the face of Zambian music. Apart from bagging many trophies at 2018 Kwacha Music Awards, Bobby East also had a number of smash hits songs with his vocals on them. He also signed his first ever brand endorsement deal with “Infinix Mobile Zambia“.
4. Macky 2
The Alpha Entertainments CEO and Kopala Swag boss also cannot be left out on this important list. Macky 2 dropped his third studio called “Ghetto President” this year and also topped the charts with songs like “Umutima Wandi” and “Everything Is Better”.
Kaladoshas has become the dominant name in Zambian afropop music and his sweet melodic vocals have now stained the music atmosphere. His top successful singles of 2018 include “Wikaleka Nkebe“, Tenga and “Love you for Life“.
Roberto has continued to make Zambia proud on the International landscape as he bagged Several Nomination at “AFRIMA” and “AFRIMMA” respectively and won a “HiPipo” award for “Best Song Southern Africa” (Into You). He also released smash hits like “African Woman“, “Dear Lavu” and “Kwasa”.
Chester‘s music sound has also become dominant as every single he drops becomes an instant banger. He managed to bless the music circle with hits such as “Banjo” and “Chinja Abanandi” this year.
8. King Illest
King illest undoubtedly is the leader of the new school HipHop ever since he managed to push Tonga Trap sound to the mainstream. With notable smash singles such as “Bakalala” and “Milundu”, the rap act has been an influential star in the music household. He also managed to represent Zambia at the Broiler Room hosted by Ballentines this year in South Africa.
“Mwana Wanyirenda” has continued to be a rare breed in Zambian HipHop. From dropping viral songs and HipHop street bangers, Tiye-P has won fans’s hearts this year. His notable works include “Tilipo Che“, “Tiye-P vs Everybody“, Makenika etc.
The African Eagle definitely deserves a spot on this list. The gospel music act dropped his album called “Become” which had hit songs like “No Wele”, “Silent” etc. He also bagged International awards such as “Sauti Awards” and “AGMMA” awards.
