National Arts Council has pulled a bold move by trying to bar South African Artistes Master KG & Mafikizolo from performing at a PF Mobilization rally in Ndola. This follows after the news of the duo performing in the country was received with Mixed reviews with many considering it unfair for local artistes.

In an official statement circulating on social media, NAC says Master KG and Mafikizolo have not been cleared to perform at the said show this Saturday. According to the statement, a foreign artiste should be cleared 3 months before the event by the Council and is required to pay 20% of show revenue to ZRA. The money paid to ZRA is withholding tax according to National Arts Council cap 170 of Laws of Zambia.

This has since sparked a buzz on social media although it’s not clear if the artistes will go ahead with the performance. The PF committee has since been advised to normalize the matters if the artistes are to be cleared to perform. Over the past years, Zambian artistes have been advocating for fair pay and prioritization by local event planners and it seems NAC is now stepping up.
