Yesterday The Recording Academy announced the Grammy Nominations for the year 2022 and surprisingly 4 Zambian acts were among those nominated for their works on Several projects. The artistes who have made history are Sampa The Great, Tio and Wezi with Sound Engineer Ben Blazer who all bagged nominations.
Sampa The Great, Tio were nominated by virtue of their contribution on Benin legendary act “Angelique Kodjo‘s album “Mother Nature“. Mother Nature has been nominated for “Best Global Music Album“. Wezi on the other hand features on an album called “Pamoja” by Jamaican artiste “Etana” which has been nominated for “Best Reggae Album“.
In the category for “Best Reggae Album”, Etana is up against the likes of Spice, Soja, Sean Paul, Jesse Royal whose albums also got nominated.
Angelique Kidjo on the other hand is up against the likes of Wizkid, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti, Rocky Dawuni, Daniel Ho and Friends. The have since become the first Zambian music acts to bag Grammy Nominations.
