POLICE in Lusaka have arrested and charged Clifford Dimba aged 32 years of Misisi compound also known as General Kanene, with Indecent assault. It has been alleged that General Kanene indecently assaulted a female TV presenter by pressing his hands on her breasts and buttocks.
Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Mrs Esther Mwaata Katongo told Mwebantu that General Kanene was arrested yesterday and is detained in Police custody
“We received a report of Indecent Assault from a 26 year old female of old Kanyama Compound in Lusaka that she was indecently assaulted by Clifford Dimba popularly known as General Kanene. This is reported to have happened at a bar in Makeni Villa on 16th October, 2018 around 20:00 hours. It is alleged that the suspect repeatedly touched the victim’s breasts against her will as she was waiting for her food.” She said.
In 2015, General Kanene was convicted and sentenced to 18 years in jail for having sex with a 14-year-old girl. After serving a year of his sentence, President Edgar Lungu pardoned him and appointed him an ambassador for women and children’s rights. However, four days after his release General Kanene beat his wife. He also assaulted another woman in a pub.
