Self-proclaimed “King of the New Version of Kalindula” “Afunika” has broken a record for YouTube Views on Local Music Videos. The Singer has become the first local artiste to have a music video surpass 800 000 Views in less than 5 months.
His music video for the smash hit “Piki Piki Skirt” is currently holding that record as it heads towards hitting 1 Million Views. The video was released late last year in November and the audio was the biggest song in the country for some months.
Among other artistes to boast huge number of YouTube Views include the like of Roberto with Almost 2 Million Views for “Amarurah” and Kay Figo with more than 8 Million Views for “Kanyelele”. Since last year, views have scaled up for local Music Videos on YouTube with artistes like Slapdee and Yo Maps hitting half and more than half a million views respectively.
